‘Please clean up your mess’

Who is responsible for rocks and mud that fall off the back of trucks?

The question has been posed by an angry Leauva’a resident who said the truck left huge rocks and lots of mud on the road (pictured).

It’s not known who owns the truck.

But Vaifale Perez told Samoa Observer that it was an ugly scene.

“Whoever is responsible, please clean up your mess,” Vaifale said.

“This happened about 7am (yesterday) and the sad thing is that the tray was not secured resulting in mud and rocks spilling out onto the road,” Vaifale said.

“These trucks need to have a proper cover at the back to prevent mud from spilling onto the road.

“The truck didn’t stop when this happened, then we chased them and caught the truck at Afega, we told the driver of what’s happening.

“He told us, he knew nothing about it, so we’ve already informed him we need his help to clear up the road.”

He said companies with trucks should ensure that not only the trucks are safe, but also the lives of those who are travelling on the road.

“The truck is overloaded, and when we were on our way to chase the truck mud continued to spill on the road.

“We should be careful, we may never know where unexpected accidents are heading from.

“If we are not careful of what we are doing then surely something might happen especially during times of heavy traffic on the road.”
