Every tattoo has its own meaning and purpose.

For some people, it is a reflection of who they are, what they value and the memories which inspired them.

Scott Warner, a tourist from New Zealand, is looking forward to getting a tattoo.

For him, it is a symbol of the close bond he has developed with Samoa and her people.

“I had decided to get inked today (yesterday) to remember this trip; also to make a connection to Samoa and to remind myself of this happy holiday I have had here,” he said.

According to Scott, he has been in a fair number of places around the world but it is the people, the relaxation and the time spent here that he enjoys the most.

He added he loved the remote beaches because he was the only person on the beach which was a rare sight in almost all other tourist destinations.

Talking with Dear Tourist, he said he made a connection with a Samoan family here that he has come to know quite well. 

Coming to Samoa for the 43-year-old is like visiting relatives, even though he is not a Samoan, he feels like he is part of this Samoan family. 

It is his second time here in Samoa and he just cannot seem to get enough of the country and its people.

“This is my second time coming to Samoa and it is so beautiful here. I would definitely come back but it is mainly for the people really,” he said.

The people of Samoa have made this eight-day trip for Scott a memorable vacation, with the Samoan way of life and the behaviour of the people which has left him amazed.

“Being away from Apia and seeing the local villages and getting to experience things such as the making of the umu and enjoying the food with the people and just getting back to the basics of life was an amazing experience,” said Scott.

Scott is thankful to the people of Samoa and their warm hospitality. 

He said not only would he return, he would also spread the word to the people he knew in New Zealand, to come to Samoa for a great holiday
