One more prisoner remains at large.

Thief and drug convict Va’ai Panapa is not to be approached and members of the public are asked to call the Police if they see him.

Spokesperson for the Samoa Prisons and Correctional Services, Sagaga Galu Frost, said Panapa was among three prisoners who escaped last Friday.

Toni Eteuati, 30, of Leauva’a who was convicted of murder and Felise Ulugia, of Vaiusu, who was jailed for theft, burglary and possession of narcotics have since been found and are back behind bars.

But Panapa has proven elusive.

According to Sagaga, the trio escaped when they were allowed outside of their cells on Friday for their Sports day.

Ulugia was captured in the early hours of Saturday morning after his father contacted the Prison to tell them he was at home.

Eteuati on the other hand was handed back in through the Afega Police Post.

“I sincerely thank all members of the public as well as the prisoners’ families who assisted us in capturing these convicts,” said Sagaga.

“I also want to thank the Ministry of Police for their work and their never ending support to the Prisons and its work.”

As for Panapa, Sagaga said he is from Vailele.

“I urge members of the public to inform the Ministry of Police immediately on phone number 22222 or 995 or Tafaigata Prisons on 22208/23516/21068 if they have any information on Va’ai Panapa.”
