Nurses Luse Emo Tauvale and Leutogi Te’o have entered not guilty pleas to the charges of manslaughter, negligence and conspiracy to defeat the course of justice.

The two women appeared yesterday before His Honour, Chief Justice Patu Tiava'asu’e Falefatu Sapolu in the Supreme Court yesterday in connection with the deaths of two babies at Safotu Hospital in Savai’i in early July this year.

The women are released out on bail.

Assistant Attorney General Leone Su’a-Mailo, who is prosecuting the case, advised the court that there are no amendments to the criminal charges that have been filed against the two nurses.

“These are the final charges your Honour,” she submitted.

Chief Justice Patu has set January 21, 2019 as the trial date for the two nurses who are currently out on bail.
