Radio Polynesia celebrated its 26th birthday last Friday with a “Roots Concert” in front of the government building.

The free concert featured performances from Daniel Rae Costello, Emme To’ala Eteru, Zipso, Mr. Tee, Romeo Sabbath, Young Sefa Enari, Generation Vito, Tama o le Pouseilala and many more.

Station Manager, Corey Keil, told the Samoa Observer the concert was Radio Polynesia’s way of not only giving back to their listeners and supporters but it was an opportunity to promote local talents.

“It is a celebration of 26 years since Radio Polynesia was established,” he said.

“Our actual birthday is on the 29th of September but we decided to hold this concert as part of the build up to the Teuila Festival celebration.”

Radio Polynesia has come a long.

Founded in 1989 by Corey’s father, Maposua Rudolf Keil, Corey Keil said they have come a long way.

“When it first started in Afiamalu there was only one station,” he said.

“Like anything in life, there were many challenges but fast forward 26 years we now have five stations.

“A lot has improved and the station has been growing immensely with 25 staff members now employed at Radio Polynesia.”
