As Miss EMD for the McDonald’s Miss Samoa Pageant 2017, Karameli Oriana Schuster will market Samoa as the perfect tourism destination.

She made up her mind to run as a contestant after crossing paths with the Miss Samoa and Miss Pacific alumni recently during the LifeCon Explosion Event to raise awareness against breast cancer.

It convinced the Information and Technology Technician with the Samoa Water Authority that the time is right.

And beauty passions, says Miss EMD should not be about just beauty but should be with a purpose and a mission.

“Marketing Samoa as a tourism destination has a purpose and a mission.

“It represents income for the farmers selling their labour of hard sweat to hotel and tourist operators.

“It’s income for taxis and their families.

“It’s employment opportunities for hotel, accommodation and restaurant employees.

“As one of the largest money earner for Samoa, tourism revenues also contributes to our Gross Domestic Product and our Foreign Reserves.”

The second youngest in Fuimaono Naoia Oli Sinalepaepaefoa Schuster and Sua Lamositele Felise Peter Schuster’s family of 6, Karameri graduated from University of the South Pacific, Fiji with a Bachelor of Science after five years of studies.

She is active in sports especially in netball and touch rugby.

“I joined the Titan Women’s Touch Club to develop my skills and knowledge of the sport. I am friendly, time-oriented, a team player and a fast learner. I also enjoy volunteering myself in activities to provide assistance. I am very excited and looking forward to what this journey will bring. “
