A 21-year-old female from Faleula, Faitasi Olene, is making good progress towards achieving her goals.
With her dream of becoming a teacher, she is studying hard at the National University of Samoa (N.U.S) taking up teaching courses at the Faculty of Education.
“Some people complain about teachers and their jobs,” she said.
“I find that very sad because teachers play such an important role in our lives.
“Without teachers we wouldn’t know everything in the world.”
Faitasi said the job of a teacher is not easy.
“It’s a very challenging role,” she said.
“We go to school to learn new things and to achieve our goals like me, so teachers play an important part in our life.”
Faitasi said everyone has a role to play in achieving goals.
Teachers have a job to impart knowledge while students have a role to absorb what they are taught and to their work.
“At the moment I am a student and I need to work hard,” she said.
“Not only that I want to become a teacher, I also see that the fees are expensive and I want to make it worthwhile for my parents.
“My parents are struggling for money for my fees, and for that I need to sacrifice my time to study and make sure that I will achieve my goal in the future.”
Faitasi added that she needs to stay focused.
She said life is full of distractions but people who focus achieve their goals.
“We need to trust God,” she said.
“Life changes and challenges do occur but that doesn’t stop me from doing what I know is best for me and my future.”
Besides, she wants to make her parents proud.
“Not only for my family but it’s for my own good.”
