Tanielu Taueli needs your help.

The 37-year-old man from Leusoali’i told the Village Voice is desperate to secure a wheelchair for his mother.

“We’ve been asking the National Health Services for help but up until, we haven’t had a response,” he said.

Tanielu’s mother is 65-years-old. She is immobile and that is why he needs help.

“We had asked the National Health Services for years now.

“My father was sick in 2011 and that’s when we asked them for a wheelchair. When he died in 2014, we hadn’t received anything.

“Now my mother is also ill and there is nothing I can do to help her.

“So this is why I’m desperate for help. All I ask is a wheelchair.”

Tanielu said his mother has been sick for a while now.

“Lately it got much worse because of her aging. She has a degenerative illness which is slowly eating away her body.”

Despite this, he said his mother is a fighter.

“She’s a strong woman, a great mother. I love her to death.

“She never made us want anything, she always gave us all her love and helped us when we needed it.

“I can’t really put into words just how important she is in our family. You see, we struggle making sure she’s happy.”

Tanielu works the plantation to provide for his family.

“Sometimes I can’t help but think of what I could do to help my mother.

“That’s why I hate not being able to help her around sometimes.

“I have this hope for a better outcome at the very least.”

If you can help Tanielu – or know of someone who can - he can be contacted on 7268014.
