Samoa has joined 120 other nations in promoting the annual "Peace Road".

In November, Universal Peace Federation (U.P.F.) Samoa adopted the road at Taufusi Market Apia as their designated "Peace Road "with banners and flags adorning the many stalls.

2017 Peace Road programmes in Samoa included the launch of Youth and Students for Peace (Y.S.P.) at the High Tech Youth Network premises in Vaivase and another Y.S.P. event in Avele.

Women’s Federation for World Peace (W.F.W.P.) is re-launched with a sewing business project earmarked for a Magiagi A.O.G women’s group.

Although officially finished on November 30th Samoa’s Peace Road will extend to the January 16th inauguration of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (I.A.P.P.) in Apia.

Peace Road is a chain of peace programmes in a global peace initiative aimed at actualizing "The international Peace Highway" originally proposed by Rev. Doctor Sun Myung Moon at the International Conference on the Unity of the sciences in 1981.

Global themes include "World peace through building ideal (3 generation) families", Reunification of North & South Korea and advocating for a 5th UN office in South Korea.

Internationally, Peace Road promotes true family values to counter the rapid moral decline and the many resulting problems in our societies.

Samoa Peace Road 2015 and 2016 centred on Savai’i churches and schools at Salelologa, Sapapali’i, Sili and Puleia.

Programmes promoting "Savai’i island of peace" included an interschool "Soccer for Peace" Tournament and a Korean board game (Yute) competition.

Peace Road commemorated the arrival of the messenger of Peace with The Gospel on Nov. 28th in 1830. It also celebrated the translation of the Bible in Savai’i.

In 2016 U.P.F. hosted a "Saligo Peace Tour" to Upolu for the combined Savai’i schools "soccer for peace" team.

Parents, teachers and students toured famous monuments like the Tomb of Tamasese, Bahai Temple and even hiked up Mount Vaea to view Robert Louis Stevenson’s grave.

Finally they played an invitation Upolu school team hosted by the Football Federation of Samoa and later enjoyed a swim at the national aquatic centre.

Character education based on Genesis 1:28 accompanied all programs. Participants were taught the 3 purposes of life, the clear meaning of "the fruit" which Adam and Eve were not supposed to eat and the importance of keeping purity before marriage and fidelity after marriage.

U.P.F. Samoa wishes to thank E.F.K.S. churches in Sili and Sapapali’i, Puleia and Salelologa Village pastors, headmasters and chiefs who supported Peace Road over the last 3 years in Savai’i.

Special thanks to Enele Westurland and S.B.C, S.S.A.B. Savaii and the Football Federation of Samoa for helping launch "soccer for peace" in Samoa.

Special mention too for the Martial Arts Federation for World Peace Demo team who performed at all Peace Road events.
