No matter where life takes you, you will always find comfort at home.
Meet Siaosi Iogi, 45, from the village of Leulumoega.
He is a family man in every meaning of the term.
“This is the fourth month since I moved back here in Samoa from Australia,” he said. “I am here to help out with my brother taking care of our plantation.”
“My wife and kids are still in Australia while I am here helping my brother because everyone else started moving abroad and there is no one else here to take care of our land and plantation.”
Mr. Iogi shared the difference between living in Australia and Samoa.
“It’s totally different somehow,” Mr. Iogi said.
“I think Samoa gives you the right to live on your own land and get to do what you want wherever you stay, but not there.”
“Australia on the other hand, regarding salaries, is way different from here, no matter if you are a janitor, your money is definitely enough for your family, but here it’s a different story.”
Mr. Iogi also said his return did not disappoint him at all.
“I am excited I get to come back here and work our land here, there are so many blessings around our land here and we just have to work it.”
“The only sad thing is living away from my wife and kids but I also didn’t want them here because the kids have settled with their school there.”
Mr. Iogi said part of giving back to the family was sacrificing what he wanted and coming home to help his family.
“I am willing to do my part and I am really enjoying everything as well as making sure everything is well looked after,” he added.
