From Chile to Samoa with love

The crowd of tourists had dispersed from the siapo making fale at the S.T.A. Cultural Village.

However just a few hung around to admire the art form that is siapo.

Dear Tourist met Fernando of Chile who was still undecided about which design he would buy,

Although Fernando is a native of Chile he has been living in New Zealand for the last couple of years and had always wanted to visit Samoa.

He had heard stories from his brother so when he got the opportunity he and some friends decided to come for a visit “my brother and his girlfriend came here two years ago so they told me it was a beautiful place for a holiday and that I should come here.”  Fernando said, “When I first arrived about 10 days ago, I thought it was very beautiful and the people were very warm very good people.”

He and his friends travelled around the whole of Upolu hitting all the hot spots and for him the beaches were his favourite and compared Samoa to one island off the coast of Chile.

“I went around the whole island and got to spend time on the beaches, and all of them were very beautiful. I hope that I can come back again to Samoa because I would like to. It’s my first time to any Pacific Island, although I have been to Easter Island and even though its smaller, it’s very similar and its beautiful.”

Having spent most of his day at the Cultural village Fernando discovered so many interesting things about our culture that he will take back with him to New Zealand and he couldn’t wait to tell his friends and family about his trip but for now the hardest part was choosing which siapo prints he would take back as souvenirs.
