Fa’atasiga Ituau lives to provide for his family. 

The 24-year-old is a father to a one-year-old child. 

Married  for  two years, Fa’atasiga, knows his responsibilities as the head of the family. 

“I work on our farm; I also sell german buns and pork buns for a living.

“This is my duty to my family and this is what I do. 

“I start my delivery by foot from the town area around Vaimoso and only stop when I finish selling.

“I utilize the foot mobile,” he said chuckling. 

“I catch the bus to Apia and then walk everywhere to sell food. 

“I usually go for two rounds from 150 pork buns in the morning and 150 german buns in the evening and usually when I finish selling off everything; I get about $300 a day and that’s good money.”

Fa’atasiga also helps with his father’s “little business”. 

“My dad runs a small Samoan cigarettes business at home so I deliver his orders to some shops around the area.

“I enjoy what I do, because being man of the house comes with a lot of responsibilities and that is my motivation to get up in the morning and sell my pork buns and german buns. 

“Of course it doesn’t make me rich but I get to earn a little bit of money every single day and that’s enough for me.

“I’m good at what I do and although it’s hard work, it’s all worth it, in the end,” said Fa’atasiga. 

He told the Village Voice his only concern is with youth drinking sessions which most likely end up in fist fights. 

Fa’atasiga is thankful for the strong influence of his parents in his life, which is why he is an alcohol free person. 

“I’m happy that I don’t consume alcohol. 

“I’m not saying I am perfect but this is how I was raised by my parents and I am grateful.”

“And I want my son to follow my footsteps,” he said proudly.
