Samoa in Super Rugby 10s?

Samoa is expected to announce its arrival in Super Rugby 10s tomorrow.

The announcement is scheduled to be made at Takapuna, Auckland, tomorrow afternoon, according to an invitation from Duco Events today.

The announcement will be fronted by Tana Umaga, Blues coach, Jerome Kaino, Blues captain, Ihaia West, Blues, Israel Dagg, Crusaders, Damien McKenzie, Chiefs, Liam Messam, Chief, David Higgins, founder and director of Duco Events and Nigel Cass, Chief Strategy & Operations Officer, New Zealand Rugby.

It would not be confirmed whether someone from the Samoa Rugby Union will attend the event.

“All media are invited to the Library Bar at the Spencer on Byron Hotel in Takapuna at 12.30pm (for a 12.45pm start) on Thursday, August 4 for the New Zealand launch of a major global rugby event,” the invite reads.

“Kicking off February 11 and 12, 2017 at Suncorp Stadium, the event will mark the start of the Super Rugby season in New Zealand and Australia for at least the next four years.

“The tournament will feature all ten New Zealand and Australia Super Rugby clubs plus four invitational teams from France, South Africa, Japan and Samoa.”
