World heavyweight title contender Lupesoliai La’auliolemalietoa Joseph Parker inspired a new generation of boxers last week.

The occasion was the Marist St. Joseph’s Sports Club revival of its Marist Boxing Ring and newly established Marist Boxing Academy.

The initiatives were launched by Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi at the Club’s headquarters.

Present at the launch was Lupesoliai who spoke to all the boxers about the importance of hard work and discipline. Parker is in the country for a break before he resumes training next week.

The revived Marist Club aims to build up the sport of boxing by reviving its boxing ring and setting up a boxing academy. The Marist Boxing Ring will organise weekly tournaments where boxing clubs from around the country will bring their boxers to compete.

The boxing academy is headed by Lionel Fatupaito, Head Coach. The different age categories at the academy will be 10 - 14 years, 15 - 16 years, 17 – 18 years and open division. The academy will start on 8th August and registration closed on 1st August.
