The Methodist Church has recognised over 400 women for their services to and for the church.

The recognition of the women was the main highlight of a church service, which signaled the opening of the Au Uso Fealofani (Mothers Fellowship) conference at the Methodist Church at Faleula last night.

The women were over 70 years of age and each received a medal as a commemoration and appreciation for their hard work over the years.

They represented different synods from Upolu, Savai’i and abroad.

Among the recipients was Tuputala Lepale from Vailoa Aleipata, who was bestowed with the highest honor for 101 years of service.

She thanked the church for the recognition when she received her medal.

Reverend Apineru Lafai, President of the Methodist Church, thanked everyone who joined the celebrations.

“We thank everyone who has come from so many different places just to be here for these two weeks of the conference,” he said.

“Even though there were so many of those that have departed us throughout this year and could not make it to be with us today, we are very fortunate to be here."

“We thank God that he has brought everyone who have come from afar and all different countries, especially our church leaders, to have the opportunity to be here and be a part of yet another conference. We ask God for his blessings on our work but especially on the women of our church and their devoted service.”

The women’s conference will get underway at 9.30 am today.
