Former Australia prop Sekope Kepu is rejoining the New South Wales Waratahs in Super Rugby for the next three years after a season of club rugby in France.

Waratahs coach Daryl Gibson said Friday "he will be a great addition to the squad and will strengthen our front-row options."

The 30-year-old Kepu made 63 test and 96 Super Rugby appearances from 2008-2015 before spending the past European season with French club Bordeaux.

He had signed with Bordeaux until 2018, but the French side announced his early release, for family reasons, on its website on Friday.

The Wallabies veteran was playing alongside Australia teammate Adam Ashley-Cooper in France.

Australia plays three tests this month against England, although coach Michael Cheika has already named his squad for those matches.
