Everyone contributes to the family

Meet Mathew Wayne from the village of Nuu.

Lawn mowing is what he does every day for a living.

“I quit school and stayed at home then I started as a lawn mower to help my family. My family is a big family of 10 people so what we are doing right now, is everyone provides for the family” he told Village Voice.

The 25-years old prioritize his family so he chooses to stay home and help in whatever work there is.

‘Even though there are lots of people living in our family, what I like the most is that we are working together as one, that’s very important,” he said.

“We work hard and develop ourselves but mostly and more importantly is to have love for each other to make things easier for each member of our family.

“We don’t struggle because we have what we need such as food and drinks and plus everyone of our family is happy as always.

“We should consider the cost of living because life moves on as well and the cost of living increases. We blame our own people for not working together but I believe every family in Samoa must do this.

“We have plantation to develop. Plant a taro and a banana or do something useful for families.”

Mr. Wayne hopes that in the future he will have a family of his own to develop.

“That’s my aim for the future but for now I must work hard providing for my family.

“My reminder to everyone is that working together is very important to keep everyone  happy.”
