Samoa was the best birthday treat ever for Guoda Karoblyte, from Lithuania.

Her stay in the islands carrying out nutrition related jobs around various local communities and schools, happened to be her best experience in the South Pacific.

She turned 21 last week and having stayed here for the past seven months, her host family gave her an unforgettable birthday bash last weekend.

According to Guoda, she needs nine months working experience in a field related to her study before she can graduate, and she chose Samoa because she wanted to travel somewhere new and unique.

Guoda spent eight years in her homeland, before she moved to Belgium and Switzerland because of her parents’ job, but now she studies nutrition at one of the universities in the United Kingdom.

“Samoan people are good crazy kind for me. When I had my birthday last weekend, all host family members and friends in Samoa celebrated with me. I have never experienced such an amazing birthday. I could not forget this 21st birthday forever.”

She loves the local culture, especially the respect for tradition and the friendly nature of the local Samoan people.

“I never feel it is cold here. You know, where I stay was always cold outside. Guess how happy I am to be warm. But I was so surprised at the hurricane a few weeks ago,” Guoda said of the weather.

During her stay in Samoa, she’s been to Savai’i three times and she loved the scenic view and food too.

She’s here for the next two months before she leaves.

“I don’t want to think about the day when I have to go back to Europe. I don’t want to leave so bad.”

Guoda plans to return after her graduation because the friendliness of her host family has captivated her.

For her, Samoa is the best place where she can get the best balance for study, work, and life.
