Makerita Sovala from the village of Letogo is sure about one thing.

Challenges will always be around.

But if we persevere and never give up, the blessings will come.

The 31-year-old stays with her children. Her husband is a R.S.E worker and is picking apples in New Zealand.

“Before, we used to survive with whatever money we could get from selling our produces. This was until my husband got a chance to pick apples in New Zealand.”

The job offer has been a tremendous help.

“We depend on money being sent by my husband,” she said. “He works hard and we are grateful for that.”

Makerita however said it is hard.

“We miss him,” she said.

“I know a lot of people can agree on me on this.”

Life is difficult.

“Even for our family, I know it’s just me, my husband and kids, but there are days where we have no money at all.”

When her husband was in Samoa, he used to go fishing everyday.

From there, they get money.

“The money he got from selling fish couldn’t be stretched to cover everything they need.

“Because we needed more for our children’s school, church and village matters.”

But they never lost hope.

This was until he got a job in New Zealand.

“It’s been a real blessing,” she said.

“He’s there for a month and we can’t wait to have him back.”

“God has many ways to overcome our struggles but just need to trust him and continue do whatever we can.

“But if we complain and do nothing then we will just make things worse.”
