Small business owner, Vaisaulu Satele ma Sun, of Vaitele-uta, has praised the government for their quick action in the establishment of a temporary market at Savalalo.
The temporary location, opened last week, follows a fire that devastated more than 200 stall owners who lost their businesses, last month.
“This is a very nice temporary market,” said Vaisaulu. “I just started and my stall isn’t complete yet but I really like it here now.
“I really want to say thank you to the government for your love towards the people here at the flea market and how fast you came up with a solution to the incident that happened here.”
On top of the temporary location, Vaisaulu and other stall owners also received $1,000 per stall to help them find their feet again.
“I am grateful for this kind gesture by the government,” she said.
Asked about the government’s plan to set up a 15-storey Central Government Building in the area, Vaisaulu said she doesn't support it.
“They should take that 15 storey building anywhere else but here; the flea market belongs in this area,” she said. “There won’t be any money generated from that building but there is always money to be made in this location for us stall owners.”
