Now that all the stresses of the festive season are behind us, it is time to relax and enjoy what 2018 has to offer.

And what better way to do that than to enjoy some beautiful live music from our very own Richard Parker this Saturday at the Taumeasina Island Resort.

Richard Parker’s concert, and Samoa’s first major concert/event this year, is sponsored by Taumeasina Island Resort, Bluesky Samoa and Vailima Breweries.

In a press conference held yesterday at Taumeasina, Mr. Parker shared how excited he is to return home and perform for everyone.

“It is a pleasure to be here with you guys,” he said.

“It’s an honour to be here, it’s good to be home. I think this is the second time performing here in Samoa so it’s an honor to perform in front of my home town."

“So hopefully if you haven’t got a ticket then go out there and get a ticket. Hopefully everything will go well on Saturday.”

But how did the idea of having a concert on the first week of 2018 come about?

“I was here about four months ago with TV1 during Star Search,” Mr. Parker said.

“Cecilia approached me to have a concert here so this is the only time I can rest, in January. That’s why we are having it in January."

“It’s good to be home and have this concert and get it out of the way.”

According Mr. Parker, the songs he has selected for the night are popular numbers among his fans.

“I have selected some of the songs from my first album to the last album,” he said.

“The songs I will select are songs that people want. Sometimes I ask people what songs they prefer me to sing and when they give me a song I will get the band to practice it."

“Hopefully all the songs I will perform this Saturday will be songs that people will like.”

Mr. Parker added since the last time he was in the country, he wore a funky costume during the Star Search competition, his wardrobe choice for this Saturday will be a surprise and it could be just at outgoing as his last.

According to Taumeasina’s General Manager, Nathan Bucknall, they are excited for what Saturday will bring.

“It’s a pleasure for us here at Taumeasina to welcome Richard Parker,” he said during the press conference.

“I know you have been here before but it is nice to welcome you back. We are very excited to have you here performing on Saturday night. The weather has been amazing and we are expecting some more amazing weather on Saturday night."

“We are expecting a big crowd so if you haven’t got your tickets then I think it’s important to get your tickets sooner than later.”

Tickets will be sold at Vailima Breweries main office, Bluesky Samoa Matafele outlet and Taumeasina Resort for $60 tala each.
