Let’s give changes at the Rugby Union a chance

And so the Manu Samoa has new Coach. Last week, the Samoa Rugby Union (S.R.U.) announced the appointment of Steve Jackson as the man to take the national team to the Rugby World Cup in Japan next year, barring a disaster of epic proportion of course.

Letters to the Editor

Re: New Airport at Tiavea Give the Americans a chance to drop off their shopping and show off some Benjamin’s as they travel through or stop in Upolu by giving them easier access. Aleipata is facing American Samoa so it makes sense to have a route directly to and fro.

Re: Tiavea Airport There is no need for this airport. The one at Fagali’i is in town and it’s affordable if you are catching a taxi. The thinking behind this is not logical at all.

Dear Editor, We took a group of visitors from overseas on a sightseeing tour of Upolu on Friday a week ago. Our visitors had been here for a week on business and were to leave that weekend. We started out from Apia and took the road that runs through the Aleisa farmlands, then Lefaga (without diverting to the coast), then Safata, Siumu, Falealili with a stop at Aga Hotel for lunch.

This is Goshier than Gosh!

There in the village, giants sleep on the mountains as you pass them by. And the fog of dawn leaves the landscape like a mother of heaven is rising to make breakfast.

Straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel

The tirade by NZ radio 1ZB commentator Heather du Plessis against the Pacific Islands has rightly invited adverse comment, only a small part of which has filtered to us in Samoa I suspect.

Between the Lines

An S.O.S. visit to Facebook? The public surely appreciates the transparency shown by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Afamasaga Rico Tupai and the Attorney General, Lemalu Hermann Retzlaff, when they posted pictures of themselves recently outside the headquarters of Facebook in Silicon Valley in America.

Don’t be a tosser, keep Samoa clean Sometimes when driving around our beautiful island admiring the lush green vegetation and gardens, - you get the shock of your life when you see young people and sometimes older people casually chuck their food packaging or whatever waste they have in their hands aside onto the path or in someone's garden and continue walking.

Prime Minister’s health The Government’s media officials were unable to confirm or deny reports that Prime Minister Tuilaepa Dr. Sa’ilele Malielegaoi required urgent medical treatment when he arrived in China on Sunday.

Think a Minute

Think a minute…They say, “The difference between men and boys is the price of their toys!” Little boys are happy with a small, simple toy truck, but later when we’ve become macho men, we want bigger, more sophisticated trucks.
