Ulugia family bestows titles

The Ulugia family of Vaiusu has welcomed more than a 100 new titleholders.

Among them were 46 members of the family bestowed with the Ulugia title.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday morning.

Family spokesperson, Ulugia Petelo, said the occasion was a dream come true for the family as they had been planning the occasion for quite some time.

Ulugia said the last time they had a title bestowal ceremony was in 2009.

“But we feel that the time is right to have more matai to look after the family and serve the village,” he said. “So the decision was made to have this ceremony today. “Another reason is to bring our family together to celebrate.” The Ulugia family is one of the biggest families in Vaiusu.

They had people travel to Samoa from all over the world for the special occasion.The Ulugia family is under the leadership of Ulugia Ofila (sa’o o le aiga), Ulugia Tovi’o and Ulugia Petelo.
