Marie Sam Chong from Malifa and Fugalei is the 2017 dux of Seventh Day Adventist College.

On top of being dux, Ms. Chong also collected awards for scoring the highest marks in accounting, computer studies and English during their prize giving ceremony on Wednesday.

Her parents are Lesina Sam Chong and Felise Sam Chong.

She’s the second of five sisters.

Ms. Chong credited God for her success.

“Without God I wouldn't be here today,” she said.

“He’s my refuge and strength in everything, so all glory for His unending love.”

She also thanked her parents for their continuous love and support.

“I have nothing else to say but to thank my parents for supporting me all these time, this is another chapter and there’s so much waiting for me in the future.

“I know that it is their prayers and faith that has pushed me beyond my limits.”

And although her father couldn’t make it to her graduation because of work purposes overseas, her mother, families and friends were present to celebrate her achievement.

Ms. Chong wants to become a future accountant. She draws her inspiration from her father.

“I want to be like him in the future, and I’m still chasing that dream and as I’ve mentioned earlier this is just a beginning,” she said.

“I’m praying to God to give me the strength to carry on, for nothing is impossible when we trust in Him.

Finally, she thanked Seventh Day Adventist College for making her the person she is today.

“This school is a big part of my life, it gave me the chance to renew my life and change my life in so many ways.

“I want to thank the teachers, principal and all my fellow students for working together.”
