It’s been a big year for Fiji, perhaps the biggest achievement of them all was the Sevens team winning the Olympic gold medal.

Tonight Anne Dunn will be looking for a golden performance herself but in a different setting when she steps up to proudly represent Fiji in the grand finale of the Miss Pacific pageant. 

Ms. Dunn is among eight contestants vying for the crown. She is a proud and passionate Fijian. So much so despite having grown up in the United States of America, she moved back to Fiji to be closer to her roots.

“I love my country,” she said. “I want to promote Fiji better and I hope to do the same for the entire region as well if I win.”

Ms. Dunn is a law graduate. 

 “My current interest lies in criminal justice and I want to pursue that as a career,” she said. 

She is looking forward to pursuing post-graduate studies next year in order to practice as a lawyer, her dream job.

But she is not just about beauty and brains. In her free time, she loves dancing, basketball and volleyball. For now, her focus is winning the Miss Pacific crown for her nation.

“I think as the Miss Pacific Islands you not only represent your own country but also the entire region and its uniqueness. I do not want to lose this uniqueness. 

“I do not want to lose the culture and traditions of the entire South Pacific just for the sake of globalization and tourism.”

Interacting and connecting with other South Pacific islanders has been her favorite part of the journey so far.

 “Just being able to understand that even though we might be different in nationalities but the whole region, it is just amazing. It should not be lost in the world of westernization. 

 “I am excited to be here and I am blessed to be here.”
