Nothing is impossible when you have love for your family. Even if it means you spend most of your time away from them.

Meet Aoto’a Suega from Fasito’o-uta. The hardworking father says his family is in Savaii but he is in Upolu to work.

The Village Voice met him while waiting for the bus to go to work. The father of three works at one of the security companies in town.

“This is me every day; I work for my family to survive,” he told the Village Voice team yesterday.

“My wife and my three daughters live in Savai’i but I’m here to work and send money home for my children’s education.”

“So I always go to Savai’i when I’m on day off from work because I also have a plantation there.”

“The plantation helps us in so many ways, but that does not stop me from looking into more ways for financial support.”

“As we all understand that we need money to survive, food is everywhere but when we talk about money, we know we have to find other opportunities to earn.”

He believes that nothing is impossible when you have a heart to love your children and family.

“People asked me to quit my job and stay home because I have a plantation at Savai’i, but I tell them no!”

“I want to do whatever I can to help my family out, yes I can work on my plantation but there’s no guarantee of money from Monday to another Monday.”

“Especially when my three daughters are all in primary level and I need to work to earn money to put them in school every day.”

He knows that life is getting tougher and tougher.

“We need to work, there’s no time to sit down and feel the breeze anymore and we need to keep on working.”

“The cost of living is skyrocketing and we barely lived with it every day, I mean every day.”

“When you trying to find something good for your family, we need to keep on working hard so that we could achieve whatever we want.”

“This life is not about sitting around and doing nothing – but getting up and looking out for more – so when bad day comes at least we prepare ourselves all these times.”

He added every child had the right to the best possible education

“Honestly, I can’t do that if don’t have any job.”

“There’s a famous saying that faith goes together with work, I don’t want to just sit around and dream big on my children to succeed in the future, I need to work.”

“I need a job to support them financially and to make that dream come true.”

“Parents understand that the key to success in any family is education and the future of the family depends on a good education.”
