Over 30 teams participated in the Cup Competition but only one can call themeselves the  champions.

On Saturday, the JS Blatter field at Tuanaimato was jam packed with supporters who came out to watch the Cup Comeptition finals.

For the men’s divison, the competition ended in a heated match between the number one team in the premier division, Lupe ole Soaga and Vaiusu FC.

Lupe ole Soaga entered the competiton as the top team to beat. They solidified their positon at the top as they beat out Vaiusu FC with a final score of 4-1.

Lupe ole Soaga has had a very successful year, having taken the shield from the fourth place winners Moalua earlier in the year in the National League.

Lupe ole Soaga’s Coach Paul Ualesi commented on his  team’s strong work ethic that won them the shield and ultimately the Cup as well.  Ualesi stated, “I encouraged them to push forward and score more goals.   They made it, and they deserve the shield, we’ve been training hard for this match. I want to acknowledge the hard work of my players and the tremendous support of our Village “Magiagi” all glory goes back to God.”

For the women’s division, ten teams competed including the top two from Savai’i.

The competiton came down to the top two teams in Samoa, the Vaimoso FC and the Kiwi’s FC.

Vaimoso FC was the favourite  team going in to the final, because of their outstanding record of being undefeated throughout their season.

But the Kiwi FC  was coming off momentum from their previous victory over a  team from Savai’i in the week leading up to the final.  The Kiwi’s looked sharp and disciplined in their match against the Savai’i team.  They were  ready to take on  Vaimoso, having  worked hard on their skills sets and fitness.

Head Coach of the Kiwi FC, Leti Tamasese, was proud of the women’s progression through out the tournament that ultimalety led them to victory by shutting  out the Vaimoso FC  in the final with an end score of 3-0.

Now that the competition has concluded, it’s back to the field to prepare for  next year’s competition
