A unique celebration brought families together at Sinamoga during the weekend.

The occasion was the decision by a brother and a sister to have their weddings on the same day.

Joyce and Junior Resture, who are half Samoans half Tuvaluans, tied the knot with their partners in front of their families and friends.

Joyce is the eldest of five and Junior is the second to the eldest of Loota and Maua Resture.

Joyce, 21, is a student at the University of the South Pacific. She works part time at the Taufua Beach Fales. Her husband is Tafiti Taumaloto, the son of Litia and Taumaloto, of Lalomanu.

Junior Resture, also 21, married Poitava Tealu, the daughter of Siata and Tealu Honolulu, of Tuvalu.

Rev. Uta Muaulu of the C.C.C.S. Fasito’o-uta encouraged the newlyweded couples to let God be the centre of their families.

“Today you have promised each in front of your families, friends and especially God that you will love each other no matter the circumstances,” he said.

“This is a whole new chapter of your lives and you will face challenges and problems but let me remind you that those problems you can conquer them all when you let God be the centre of your relationship.”

“Remember your vows that you made to each other today.”

“May the Lord bless your new family as you start on this new journey of being husbands and wives.”

The ceremony was followed by a big feast fitting for the double celebration.
