The Magic Circus of Samoa is in Tuanaimato to perform their new show.

Acts include the high wire, the globe of death, juggling masters and others performed by professionals from all over the globe.

The circus has an international crew representing Columbia, Brazil Argentina, Ethiopia and Samoa with 80 per cent of the performers Samoans. The crew is based in Samoa and perform every two years.

Tupa’i Frank Bruno, the Magic Circus of Samoa ringmaster, told Samoa Observer in an interview that circuses around the world are different from theirs with their crew an all professional cast that strive to entertain.

“When you look at the circuses around the world they are completely different I don’t like the style. I am still in old-fashion. I don’t want to put masks and make-up on people when you can’t see who the artists are. I want you to see the piece of sweat I want you to see that person and I want you to remember the faces. The Magical Circus of Samoa is a tiny little circus that goes around the world where you can remember the faces we are kind of old-fashion and we want to keep it that way we don’t want to change to the more modern way of doing it,” he said.

“Here you can feel the spirits there is no safety, nothing, the artists are so good they don’t need it. When you see the high wire we don’t have a net or anything it is a certain emotion and that is what the circus is suppose to create. When you see someone up there with a big rope, anyone can do that. So I think people pay to see a great show and feel the excitement.”

Compared to other circuses on average perform about 10 acts in one show, Tupa’i said his crew are performing about 24 different acts in one show.

“You go see a circus maybe it is because of the economy in today’s world, they have gorgeous new tents and equipment, but then the acts inside are long and boring. 10 minutes juggling acts, which is just too long. We took out all that long boring stuff out and put only the highlights in.”

When speaking of the risks that his crew take, Tupa’i Frank Bruno pointed to the juggling Samoan girl Miss Talave from the village Aleisa, who performs a solo act in the show.

“I have this girl and she is just absolutely phenomenal. Some people have this natural talent hers is juggling she does seven I mean the best of the best jugglers are doing seven. When you see other girls in circuses you don’t see a woman doing what she does it is almost impossible, “he said.

Miss Talave and her husband will perform a new act called ‘quick change’, which is yet to be seen in Samoa, which Tupa’i indicated they had to learn in India.

“They are really talented you will see a great act by the Samoan couple,” he added.

Tupa’i has been with the circus for over 27 tears and has done tours in American Samoa, Tahiti, New Caledonia, the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean region.

The prices for entries per adult are $16, kids $8 and the VIP tickets are available for $20 per adult and $12 per child.
