Meet the 26-year-old Sale Telepi from the village of Faleapuna. 

A farmer, Sale’s unconditional love for his family is the drive behind what he does day in and day out. 

Sale comes from a big family of seven, and as the only boy he is willing to sacrifice for his parents and his four sisters. 

“Life nowadays is becoming difficult, especially for us teenagers and if we are not smart with our decision making, we will meet our downfall,” he said.

“Caring for my family is my number one priority.” 

Sale being the only male child of the family and for him this is one of the greatest things in the world because he is the protector and the helper for his sisters.

“I am a man of honor and dignity, I respect all my sisters and that is one reason why they do the same for me,” he said

Sale doesn’t work, but his experience of home service and going to the plantation is his life. Supporting his family through his work in his family is his goal.  

“I help my family in any way I can and being a farmer is one of the jobs I am doing at the moment to support them.”

“Life has so many challenges, given the influences of many things, and then comes the lack of respect between siblings, between parents and their children. That is life as we know it,” said Sale. 

He also noted the high cost of living which has a huge impact on the families all over Samoa including his family. 

Sale believes the Village Council and Chiefs of Faleapuna are doing a great job managing their community. A Christian, Sale loves to attend church every Sunday. 

“To gain more blessings and joy is through service in God first and to love your families.” 

“At the moment, I have no thought of finding a job but I am always here to guide and help my family especially my father in any way I could.”

“I know I can do all the service I could and must do with the help of our almighty Lord,” he told the Village Voice.
