The much-anticipated unification fight between La’auliolemalietoa Joseph Parker and Anthony Joshua yesterday morning attracted a huge crowd to the Travellers Point Sports Bar, Malifa, yesterday.

Among them was Mark Burns who praised Samoa’s champion despite the result.

“I think there were a lot of people in there trying to capture a miracle happening I think,” he said.

“The atmosphere here was fantastic. We had a lot of people here coming to watch the fight.

“I also think 99% of the people were here today was of the English people here at the Travellers Point.”

Mr. Burns said it was overwhelmingly clear that Parker remains a champion in the minds of many fans.

“Let’s look at the facts,” he said.

“Parker was fighting in Wales in front of a 78,000 sold out Stadium.

“Joshua on the other side was a bit taller than him but we still have to give credit to Parker for coming this far.

“He is a young kid. We should be proud because he stuck to the fight all the way, and took a few rounds as well for himself.

“You know you’ve got to take your hat off to him.

“Joshua hasn’t gone past 10 Rounds during most of his previous fights but Parker handled him so well, Parker still got a lot of career left in him going forward.”

David Nnachi said the atmosphere there was absolutely amazing.

“It was great,” he said, “almost like you were brothers at the same time with all the people was that here cheering for Joseph Parker.

“Everyone who watched the fight saw what happened from the two fighters.

“They were careful out of respect because they both knew what they were capable of.  The fight went well and this place was a great place to be to witness the fight today.”
