Family needs help with airfares

Thirty-two-year-old, Luaipou Talito’elau, has been bedridden for years because of a heart disease.

Yesterday, her parents spoke to the Samoa Observer about their need for assistance in paying Luaipou and her father’s airfares to New Zealand for what could potentially be a life saving treatment.

Her valve surgery operation has been scheduled in New Zealand, on Tuesday next week.

Luaipou has been admitted to hospital many times. She’s currently on medication to assist with her heart function, pending approval for definitive treatment and surgery overseas.

Her mother, Tuualuga Faleatua said their daughter’s doctor told them that the best thing is to take her to New Zealand for treatment.

“We were worried when we received the notice from the doctor that all we need to do is to look for money for airfares because we knew it will cost a lot of money,” she said.

“The money we earn from day to day in our family is not enough to cover my daughter and her father’s airfares; especially when we mostly depend on the land for food and money.”

“For now, we are desperately looking for someone to help us in paying their fares and that’s why we are seeking help through the Samoa Observer.”

If you want to help Luaipou, please contact her on 7598349 or 7774342.
