As part of their visit to Samoa last week, a high-level United States (U.S) delegation led by Daniel Russel, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian & Pacific Affairs and Admiral Scott Swift, Commander of the US Navy Pacific Fleet, visited a number of key police facilities in Samoa.

As Chairperson of the Pacific Transnational Crime Network, Police Commissioner, Fuiavailili Egon Keil delivered a key briefing to the delegation at the Pacific Transnational Crime Coordination Centre (P.T.C.C.C.) on current crime threats and trends within the Pacific.

The P.T.C.C.C is a regional programme which works in close partnership and collaboration with Pacific Island law enforcement agencies to detect, disrupt and dismantle transnational crime within the Pacific.

The delegation also inspected the Police Patrol Boat Programme to discuss information exchange on border security issues within the Pacific maritime environment.

The U.S. delegation acknowledged the close relationship shared between Samoan and U.S. law enforcement agencies and committed to ongoing cooperation between both countries.
