The dux of Wesley College in 2018 is Talitakumi Faletolu Fiti.

She was awarded the top prize at Faleula yesterday and dedicated her success to her parents, Reverend Faletolu and Vi Fiti from Satui, Fasitoo uta.

She came first in economics, accounting, Samoan, mathematics, and Christian education but second in English.

“I feel so content that I accomplished my parent’s wishes for me to achieve great things all for my sake and providing a better future for my family.

“I thank God for his never-ending blessing for me, my parents for all the hard work that they invested in making my education first priority.

“I am overwhelmed with joy that I have made them proud so I can repay everything that they have done for me,” she said.

Talitakumi said that she also faced difficulties during her academic year.

“One of the problems that I faced was financial but we prayed and overcame so many obstacles.

“My father is my role model, he would always encourage me to be better and dream big and that I can do everything, if I set my mind to do but most importantly to have faith in God.

“He told me to believe that there is nothing impossible with God and he was right,” she added. 

Talitakumi also said that her goal is to work in an office job in  administration or management.

“I am now going to focus on university studies and continue making my parents proud.

“My father is ill so I am going to make him smile and be happy because in the end I love both my parents they are my motivation and inspiration,” she added.

The mother of the Wesley College’s valedictorian, Vi Fiti, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for her daughter’s academic success.  

“Praise God because of my child’s achievement, we are both very proud of her and she has worked so hard to be at this level. Even though there were complications along her path but it is true what they say you will always reap what you sow. We have been supporting her and urging her to put God first in everything that she does and she has learnt so much from that.”

The other Year 13 level results were: Susana Mavaeao is top in arts, Agape Isaia for science while the Best Wesleyan student award went to Aperaamo Wells.
