For a shy young man who sells fish along the road of Puipa’a, he wishes to one day trade his fish stall for a teacher’s desk.

Uepa Suaia, from the village of Puipa’a is a year 10 student at Levaula College. During his free time, the young man tries his best to do his part in the family.

When approached by the Village Voice, the man of few words said that his father works hard every day to go out and catch fish to earn some money for his family.

So in order to pay his father’s hard work back, Uepa also works hard to try and sell his fish.

“I come here every day when I have free time,” he said.

“I go to school and then when I return home, I come straight here and help my family this way. On holidays I also try and sell some fish to earn money.”

Asked how much this fish market means to his family, Uepa replied that it helps them a lot. The money received goes towards covering many things in the family.

As for his dream of becoming a teacher, Uepa says any job will do but he wants to teach.

“My dream is to become a teacher,” he said.

“But I will also be happy with whatever job I get; as long as I can make some money to help my family. I want to help my parents as soon as I can.”

Speaking about life in general, Uepa says he is happy with what he does.

“When I help my parents it makes me very happy,”

“Doing well in school is also one of my goals in life. Tomorrow (today) is my schools graduation and I’m looking forward to that.”
