Education is Tino’s top priority

Tino Loge of Lotoso’a Saleimoa is a determined young man.

The 18-year-old student of Wesley College at Faleula was working at the plantation yesterday when the Village Voice caught up with him.

“I know the importance of getting a good education,” he said.

“That’s why I want to do my best at school. I don’t want to end up with nothing in the future.”

“I’ve seen so many of our youth and so many other kids dropping out of school and nothing good ever comes from that.”

“To me; I don’t want to say I’m trying to be perfect.”

“But I’ve seen many young people end up on the wrong path and I don’t want that. I take it as a lesson to keep going and to encourage myself to succeed in school.”

“We all know how it works; when you don’t have a good education or hold that piece of paper, you can already imagine the kind of future that you will have.”

“I don’t want to be somebody that has nothing in the future and that’s the main reason why I’m studying hard.”

“If I mess up now then I know I won’t make it to the next level and that’s already scary just by thinking about it.”

“If you want the future of Samoa to be a good one; then you as a youth of Samoa have to value your time in school, you got to do well in school and use your parents’ money wisely because once you miss this opportunity you can never get it back.”

“It’s that simple to lose everything if you act like you don’t need it because there are other kids who are dying to be in school to earn a good education and yet their families and their parents cannot afford it.”

“So it’s only fair that we as youth must encourage our generation to use all these education opportunities wisely for the betterment of our families as well as Samoa.”
