Top cop’s courage wins ‘inspirational leader’

The Police Commissioner, Fuiavailili Egon Lincoln Keil, has been recognised for his work and his courage by the government.

On Friday during the celebration of Public Service Day, he was presented the Inspirational Leadership award for withstanding the odds to be reinstated as Commissioner of Police. 

“His exceptional leadership during the Firearms Amnesty Project also has contributed to keeping Samoa safe and aware on the issue of firearms,” praised the Public Service Commission.

“His drive for the Ministry of Police to be hands on and contribution to the development of the targets and results for the Amnesty resulted in the success of this project.”

“It is without saying that the recent event during his period in office as the Commissioner of Police has shown his professionalism and integrity to withstand the odds that were against him to be reinstated as the Commissioner by the Cabinet.”

Other aspects of his Leadership that inspires others include:

• His push for the Ministry of Police to get engaged and contribute to the development of the target and results for the Ministry during the period of the Amnesty in order to contribute to a safer Samoa.

• Being there from day one to lead and provide input so that the team can look at matters and see to its advantages and disadvantages of implementing the Amnesty.

• Constant reminder to his team that the work needed to be achieved in order to improve the daily work of the Ministry of Police into making Samoa safer.

Being committed to the cause of the Amnesty through constant reminder that the goals for this project and the work was for the good for both the Ministry and the community.
