Cheering World Rugby

Re: Fuimaono and World Rugby

The Samoa Observer editorial is quite clear. They blame the S.R.U. for selecting Fuimaono in the first place. Such a suck-up to World Rugby.

It is disgraceful that World Rugby have such a massive hold on Samoan rugby now. The Union is run by World Rugby; no more independence. It is run for the benefit of world rugby and we all know world rugby are controlled by the tier one countries.

I see Mata’afa is cheerleading the World Rugby decision to sack Fuimaono.

He should be reminded that Fuimaono had the overwhelming support of the local rugby fans. He “understands us and our rugby” is the common refrain I heard. Also, there was more chance of more local players being promoted into the team if he was around.

Do the majority of fans views count for nothing?

Whoever the new coach is will never really have the full support of the local fans because he is the choice of World Rugby. He will be an outsider who are loyal to World Rugby; not Samoa.

Sounds harsh but that is what in my opinion is the truth.

Beggars can’t be choosers indeed.

They have the money but they will never have any respect after this incident.
