Looking for somewhere to hang out this afternoon to celebrate Samoa’s 56th Independence Day?
Why not try out the Home Café and Bar at Malifa?
Owners Horace Evans, Moana Schreckenberg and their crew are hosting an Indie Beats Independence Day party.
Members of the public are invited and doors open at 3pm until midnight.
Ms. Schreckenberg said the party focuses on a variety of music and food.
“Every Independence Day for the past three years we always have something, we had a beer festival for last year,” she said.
“This year’s theme is called ‘Indie Beats’ because it refers to Independence that’s why it mainly focuses on a variety of music and with it, their own individual sounds.
“We try to switch it up a little bit because we noticed that we get a lot of families here so that’s why we wanted to have a little change of scenery,” she said.
Ms. Schreckenberg also said not only is the music going to be different, but also the variety of foods.
“Our main menu will be a barbecue but there will be some food stalls. A group of friends have been invited and they will be cooking curry, fried chicken and Samoan foods.
“There will also be drink specials at the bar, mainly Taula for all those looking for a drink to cool down, relax and enjoy the independence celebration. We have Fiji Kulture Band playing, who will be our main act and then we have some local DJs for the night and possibly a local singer but we’re not sure yet,” she added.
She also stated that independence is a holiday we all love to celebrate and is something we should be proud of, which is why they always do something different every year.
“We invite all the members of the public to come on down to have a chance to just chill and have something fun to do after the march. There will be plenty of good and different kinds of foods to choose from plus a live band playing, so head on down and come celebrate with us our 56th Independence Day,” she said.
