Prisoner Lauititi Tualima has been taken to the hospital due to injuries he received on Friday night.

According to a source from the hospital who spoke to the Sunday Samoan on the condition of anonymity, Lauititi was brought in on Friday night because he was beaten up and stabbed.

“According to the source Mr. Taualima was stabbed with a pair of scissors and he was badly beaten up by inmates inside the prison.

“The inmates were angry at him for escaping a lot so they beat him up and one of them stabbed him,” said the source.

However, the source could not clarify how many inmates were involved. Efforts to get  a comment from the Assistant Commissioner of Prison and Correction Sagaga Galu Frost, were unsuccessful.

When the Sunday Samoan contacted Prison and Correction Facilities, one of the workers said he could not release any information in regards to the matter because he is not authorised to do so.
