“Sports is one thing that unites this nation and we’ve witnessed that with the 2010 world series champions, everything that has to do with sports has the potential to inspire nations,” Seumanu Douglas Ngau Chun, the C.E.O of Leadership Samoa said.

“If a sports person does well for Samoa then the nation rejoices together and forgets all their problems.”

Aiono Nafoi Peseta, the Chairperson for Taimua Samoa, spoke about the importance of recognizing excellence.

“Awards ceremonies are a celebration of talents, success and achievements. Receiving awards boosts personal or teams leading their fields,” he said.

“It is a way of endorsing people’s abilities and rewarding achievements. We of Taimua Samoa 2015 are happy to be able to host this large scale fundraiser for the initial purpose to donate to sporting organizations.”

There will be 12 awards altogether which will be given out at the end of the year.

“These awards are everyone’s awards, it is Samoa’s awards. The road best traveled in any endeavor is the road traveled together.”
