Fifty-seven year old father, Lance Ulberg from Tuaefu believes that family planning can reduce poverty.
“We all know that children are a gift from God but we have to plan them wisely,” he said.
“Looking at the high cost of living nowadays, many families are complaining about it but I think this is the best way to tackle the problem.”
“We have to get into practice of controlling the number of children in a family and the intervals between their births.”
“The fact is, if we know that your pay can’t afford to raise many children then seek a doctor’s advice to see if modern contraceptives or natural techniques that can help to limit and space pregnancies.”
Lance believes family planning is a critical component of strategies to reduce poverty.
“As I’ve told you before, many people blame the high cost of living, not enough money to send their children to school and list goes on and on.”
“But in some ways, we have to be strong in ourselves, if we want to have a better family, healthy children then we need to look into ways to raise them the life that we want them to be.”
“There’s no point of having too many children and at the end of the day you just can’t help yourself.”
“Personally, there are many ways and methods to prevent pregnancy.”
He understands that life has gotten harder and harder over the years.
“This life is all about working hard to take care of those you love is what’s most important.”
“With my family, things are very simple, my sister’s children are staying with us because of school....yes life is simple when you make it simple.”
“We have our own plantation at the back.”
“I wake up early in the morning and make my way to the plantation and get whatever I need to make a living.”
“Yes, everything I do is for my family.”
“Blessings and a good life does not come looking for the people; people go out and look for ways to make a good living.”
He believes that it is important to prepare for every day that comes our way.
“But bad days will never pass if we trust and believe that there’s that Mighty God that always around at anytime whenever we need help.”
“Especially when we put our trust in Him and everything will be just fine.”
