THE DAMAGE: A view of the frot of the delivery truck after it ploughed into a container at Vailoa.

An Ah Liki delivery truck swerved on the road and hit a container standing beside the One & One Mart at Vailoa on Saturday afternoon.

Three of the four passengers were sent to the hospital with serious injuries.

Another passenger with minor injuries told Samoa Observer that he was shocked when the truck accidentally hit the container.

“I am not sure if the driver is all right….but we’re all alive after the accident. A gaping hole in the container was seen when the truck was removed and debris from parts of the truck was seen scattered in the corridor of the supermarket.

Bystander, Viliamu Koria from Vailoa said that the truck was moving at high speed when it was about to turn in front of the supermarket.

“The driver looked dazed when the rescuers helped him and so did the other two who got out the truck.

“The driver seemed to have lost control.  The crash sounded like a bomb had gone off; it was absolutely awful. “I just want to remind everyone to please be careful…especially as our roads are still under construction. Don’t try to impress anyone; be mindful and remember that this is not a motorway.”

Several attempts to reach the Police and Health services for comments were unsuccessful.
